Yep! It's true, I wash my face with oil. Why? Well, there are a lot of reasons, but here are a few:

#1. Oils are extremely beneficial to the skin. They moisturize the skin as well as clean it. Oils contain quite a bit of nutrients from the plants they're extracted from. You've heard of taking oils as skin, hair, and nails vitamins and such? In turn those oils applied topically nourish the skin.

#2. OILS REMOVE ALL THE MAKEUP, EVERY LAST BIT. IT'S AMAZING.

How though? How do oils remove makeup and dirt from deep inside your skins pores so well? It's quite simple when you think about it; the makeup and dirt in your pores are basically oil, right? Like dissolves like, doesn't it? Well, there you go.

Now what oils should you use? It is very important to buy high quality oils to use on your face. For obvious reasons we don't want to be slathering bacon grease on our face. Here are a few of my personal favorite oils for washing my face:

#1. castor oil: castor oil is very thick and quite drying, oddly enough, but because of that it is very cleansing. I don't recommend using castor oil straight up because it is quite drying, but it is amazing mixed with other, more moisturizing oils. I personally use Jamaican black castor oil and it works great.

#2. coconut oil: Now, I have heard of some people that say coconut oil breaks them out, but coconut oil has done nothing, but improve my skin. Maybe they used a low quality oil. Make sure when you're buying coconut oil to get cold pressed, extra virgin coconut oil to get the best results.

#3. avocado oil: avocado oil is probably the most moisturizing oil for your skin. if you have dry skin, avocado oil might be your best choice. Like all the other oils for your skin make sure you're buying cold pressed.

Specialty oils: These are oils that are extremely beneficial to the skin, but i don't like using a lot in my oil cleansing mixture because i feel like i'm wasting them when I wash it off. I typically use specialty oils AFTER washing my face as a moisturizer so I don't feel like I'm wasting it. Here are a few of my favorites:

#1. sea buckthorn seed oil: Sea buckthorn is so amazing for acne and acne scarring.

#2. jojoba oil: jojoba oil is technically a wax, but it is in its liquid state at room temperature. jojoba oil is great for your skin because it is the closest oil to our natural skin oils.

#3. rose hip oil: I love rose hip for the skin, unfortunately the oil doesn't smell like roses, but it has a lot of the nutrients.

Essential oils: Different essential oils work better for different things you're targeting.

For acne:

● Tea Tree

● lavender (also great for calming)

For scars:

● Lemon

● Lavender

● Frankincense

For redness:

● Vanilla

● Lavender

● Frankincense

● Eucalyptus

We've talked about why oils work for the skin and what oils to use, but now you need to know how. How do I wash my face with oils? Well, that's what I'm here for, so just listen:

First, you probably should put your hair up and put a head band on, unless you want oils in your hair. Second, take your oil mix and massage into your skin. Don't worry too much about getting it in your eyes, there are very few oils that sting. It'll just make your eyes a little blurry for a while. While you're massaging the oils into your skin be gentle, don't tug. this is your face, so be careful. Also, if you decided to use essential oils in your mixture take a few deep breaths while massaging for the aroma therapy benefits. Next, take a clean (VERY, VERY CLEAN) washcloth and run it under warm water, wring out, then drape over face to loosen the oil, dirt, and makeup and just gently wipe away.

Then you're done! your face should feel really clean and not dry. Simply apply a bit more oil onto your skin to moisturize and that's it!
